Orford, NH-Winter is almost here, but students and teachers are thinking about summer and when the last day of school will be. Human Resource Manager, Brenda Gray, reported that during the 2016-17 school year Rivendell Academy had four snow days.

Deciding to close school due to weather is a group decision made by the superintendent, the director of transportation and road agents in the four towns. Last year, during the 2016-2017 school year, Rivendell had the same number of snow days as Sharon Academy. This was fewer snow days than most other local schools. According to Jessica Belley, front office coordinator at Hanover High School, they had six snow days. The superintendent of Hartford High School, Thomas Debalsi, reported they had five snow days.

The Old Farmers Almanac, a yearly reference book that predicts the weather, calls for a mild and snowy 2017-2018 winter. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, predicts higher than normal temperatures and a normal amount of rain or snow.

Elyssa thinks that there will be the same number of snow days as last year. Sienna agrees, but thinks there might be fewer. What do you, the reader, think about the number of snow days and this winter's weather predictions.
