Angel Parkin, Administrative Assistant/Registrar, may be new to Rivendell Academy, but she is not new to the Rivendell Interstate School District. Angel has been working in the Rivendell District since 2009. She started working at Samuel Morey Elementary (SME) as a one-to-one paraprofessional. In 2011, she was promoted to administrative assistant in the main office at SME. In addition to her experience at SME, Angel helps her husband with the bookkeeping for his business.

Last summer, when Brenda Gray moved to the district Office, Angel applied for the open position at the Academy. Angel said she wanted the more demanding job at the Academy because she likes to stay busy. She also wanted a year round job.

Angel’s time at SME and work with her family business taught her almost everything that she needed to know for the job at the Academy. The skills she learned help her handle enrollment, payroll, incoming students, activity accounts, paperwork that comes through the office, and keeping Mr. Gelenian on track. She helps him with his administrative paperwork and daily scheduling to help keep him at his peak efficiency and on task. She is also a member of COL (Committee on Learning), a group of teachers from across the district who plan teacher professional development.

Angel has developed great relationships with everyone she has met so far. Mr. Gelenian describes Angel as “hilarious,” also saying, “we have a good and honest relationship.” Science teacher, Ms. Sanders states that Angel is a “wonderful person to have in the office.” She also notes that Angel is “very patient” when Ms. Sanders needs last minute supplies. Special Educator, Ms. Brynne notes that, “Angel is detail oriented and makes some of the processes that we as teachers have to do really easy and seamless.”

The two administrative assistants in the office work as a team. “[Angel and I] jump in and help each other with everything we do...We get along very well because we have the same personality. We both like to have fun but we also like to be busy,” says Michelle Oakes.
