The most popular fundraisers of the year, by far, are the Halloween Dance and the Haunted Hallway. The dance and the hallway are yearly events at Rivendell. This year, Spanish teacher Paige Radney organized the Halloween Dance for the first time and did an excellent job. It was “The best Halloween Dance yet”, junior Isaac Martel told me. Costumes make the dance better and that is why there is a discount if you wear one. This year the Halloween Dance fees were a fundraiser for the Nicaragua trip.
On the same night as the Halloween Dance, the Haunted Hallway was hosted and organized by Anna Alden and the theatre tech class. The hallway was organized as a fundraiser for the spring and fall productions as well as Northern Stage trips
This year a lot of kids enjoyed both of the events and hosting them on the same night really helped with the crowd. The dance was just about packed and the Haunted Hallway scared more than one hundred visitors, students and community members alike. Coming with the major success were some challenges. Director of the Haunted Hallway Anna Alden told me “We can’t just copy what we did last year… We need to think of new ideas.” Not only is it hard to come up with new ideas but Alden had to keep the class excited for the event even though they had it planned a whole month in advance. Dance organizer Paige Radney had some tips for next year. She told me that making the entry process easier will definitely help and having plenty of food is a must.
These are both annual events, so next year come down to the dance and bring your family through the Haunted Hallway for some great scares.
