Get Ready for the 2018 Winter Olympics!

The 2018 Winter Olympics are taking place in PyeongChang Country, South Korea from February 9 to February 25. That Winter Olympic Games started in 1924 and this year will mark the 23rd Winter Olympics. This will be the second time the Olympics have been held in South Korea, but the first time the Winter Olympics have been held in South Korea. The last Winter Olympics took place in Socchi, Russia, where there were 2,800 participants and took place February 7 - February 23, 2014.

The prices for 2018 Winter Olympics were announced in April 2016 and went on sale October 2016. Tickets range from $17 to $776 and tickets for opening and closing ceremonies range from $190 to $1293. The 2018 Olympics feature 102 events in 15 sports, a total of 93 teams have qualified at least one athlete and six nations will make their Winter Olympic debut. The fifteen events consist of alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skating, ice hockey, lung, nordic combined, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboarding and finally speed skating.

The top 5 most watched events in the Winter Olympics is snowboarding, figure skating, freestyle skiing, alpine skiing and speed skating. A total of 135 people from the United States participate in the Olympic Games. There is a total of eight Olympic competitors that are from either Vermont or New Hampshire: Ryan Cochran, Sean Doherty, Emily Dreissigacker, Susan Dunklee, Sophie Caldwell, Liz Stephen, Amanda Pelkey and Andy Newell. The events they will participate in include cross country skiing, women's hockey, biathlon and alpine skiing. Susan Dunklee is someone who most likely to bring home a medal, “We’re really, really optimistic. She can contented for a medal in every race she starts” said Max Cobb, president of US Biathlon. Korey Dropkin and Devin Logan are two other names that are expected to bring home medals. Dropkin was USA male curling athlete of the year in 2012 and 2016 which makes people very hopeful for another great performance and a few medals too. Logan is freestyle skier that is a 2x world cup champion and if that doesn't make you hopeful for a medla I don't know what will. The US is expected to do well in most sports that they are involved in and very hopeful to bring home so medals.
