Episode Recap: Rise, E02

Last week on Rise we got to meet the characters of the show and learn a little about their lives. It set the mood for episodes to come. Here's what happened this week.

This week on Rise they started rehearsals for Spring Awakening. We learned that Lou’s son, Gordy, is an alcoholic and they are trying to get help for him. He gets privileges taken away, such as no car and now phone. While Lou is at the school, Gordy gets into a serious car accident as he is out in the middle of the night to think, but thankfully he was okay.

Lou and Mrs. Wolfe go to the school board meeting to see if they can get money for the musical as the principal is giving them absolutely nothing after what they did to Pirates of Penzance props and costumes. At the school board Lou and Mrs. Wolfe planned on Lou just talking but as the meeting goes on Mrs. Wolfe gets more worked up when she learns that the school is using $117,000 of their budget to get a jumbotron for the football field.

Lilette Suarez, played by Auli'i Cravalho, and the star football player, Robbie Thorne, played by Damon J. Gillespie, are the leads in the musical. Lilette has always been attracted to Robbie but never actually talked to him. Since they are in the play together they have created relationship.They started to practice lines together in school and out of school. At the end of the episode Lilette sees him with another girl and gets really upset.
