Three Reasons Why "A Series of Unfortunate Events" Should Be Your Next Binge

When you were a kid, you probably read the books from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events written by Daniel Handler. A movie was put out on the books in 2004 and it was a big hit. The movie had a big stars, including Jim Carrey and Meryl Streep. If you know of the book series there are 13 books. The movie only touched upon a the beginning of the Baudelaire orphans journey to freedom and a good family. They never continued the movies. In 2017 Netflix put out a television show for the series starring Neil Patrick Harris as the horrible Count Olaf. Netflix recently put out the second season of the show and it is better than ever.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events is about 3 children that lose their parents in a fire. They had lived in a big house and their parents had a big fortune that was then left to the kids. Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire get sent to Count Olaf to be their new guardian but then learn that he only took them in for their money. From one guardian to the next Count Olaf follows, and lets just say a lot of really unfortunate events happen. Their real mission now is to stay away from Count Olaf, keep his hands off their fortune, and stay alive. Now that you know a bit about the show, here is 3 reasons why you should watch A Series Of Unfortunate Events.

Reason 1: Both seasons are very binge worthy. When I say very, I mean VERY. Even though almost at the beginning of every episode Lemony Snicket tells us to stop watching because a lot of very unfortunate events are about to happen. The way they run the series is with episodes that have two parts. An example is in episode one where it is called “The Bad Beginning: Part 1” and the title of episode two is “The Bad Beginning: Part 2”. At the end of every Part 1 you are always left with a very intense cliffhanger. At the end of every Part two you are ended with the Baudelaire orphans in a good place, ready for the next episode to something bad to happen again.

Reason 2: It keeps you on the edge of your seat but also melts your heart at the same time. You feel empathy for the Baudelaires at all times. Whether they are in a good place or a bad place you feel for them. When they are getting trapped in Count Olaf’s schemes or are getting away from him you are on the edge of your seat to see what happens to them next. It touches your heart as you see how close the three of the Baudelaires are and how they work together. As the show goes along you start to feel really bad for the children because no one believes anything they say and more and more unfortunate things happen to them.

Reason 3: The characters of the show are amazing, even the ones you want to hate. We have the amazing Neil Patrick Harris who does an insanely good job as the horrible Count Olaf. Count Olaf is the man that is going after the Baudelaire orphans to get there fortune that they got from their parents. Olaf somehow always ends up finding out where they Baudelaires are and how to make try to kill them or the guardian they are with. Although he is absolutely horrible you have to love his horrible personality. Moving on to the Baudelaires; Sunny, Violet and Klaus. They all have something special about them. Sunny, well she has very extraordinary teeth, Violet is a brilliant inventor. All she needs is ribbon to tie her hair back, a moment to think and she can invent anything. Lastly we have Klaus, who is an actual genius. He has read all of the books in his parents library and knows the definition of any word. If you don’t know something, Klaus does. The characters are probably my favorite part of the show.

So now that you have a few reasons to watch A Series Of Unfortunate Event, you should definitely head on over to Netflix and start binge watching. Trust me, you won’t want to stop.
